The Cardiology Consultant

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral letter from my GP?
Yes, a referral letter from your GP is required. We would advise you to see your GP in the first instance to discuss the problem you are experiencing or the treatment you are considering. If you will be claiming under a medical insurance policy, please provide your insurance details when making contact to arrange an appointment. Usually you will need to phone your insurer to give them the date of consultation and the name of the consultant you have been referred to.

Do I need to have private medical insurance?
No, we have self-funding complete care packages available for all procedures. In certain circumstances we may have flexible payment packages available.

What do you charge for a consultation?
Consultation fees can be confirmed by Hazel and she will be happy to discuss the costs of investigations. She will be able to show Dr Clarkson your letter of referral and offer you an appointment, which will allow most, if not all investigations to be carried out at initial consultation.

Does it matter at which hospital I see a specialist?
No. Appointments can be made to see Dr Clarkson at the Parkside Suite at Frimley Park Hospital, Spire Clare Park Hospital in Crondall, or the Surrey Cardiovascular Clinics in Guildford. Ideally the first consultation will take place at the Guildford clinic, as this site has excellent testing facilities and provides a “one stop” appointment service.

How long do I have to wait for an appointment?
Appointments are usually available within a week of request.
